Class Description:
Log Cabin style quilts are some of my favorites to make and to look at, the variations on such a simple and humble block are endless. The breadth of variation you can achieve with the Log Cabin is endless: change the width of the strips, create in the round, use random colors, decrease the size of the strips etc. In this block we will focus on working with long narrow strips and squaring up after each round of sewing to achieve a perfectly square block without a lot of fussing while sewing. Block measures 20”

Fabric Requirements:
You can make this quilt whatever size you wish, from a small mini wall hanging to a bed size quilt.

- Variety of ¼ to ½ yard cuts of fabric. Do not choose scraps or fat quarters, as you want the full width of fabric for economy of use.

- 10 to 12 colors is a good place to start, but have enough color choices on hand to suit your creative style. Pick fabrics you love with a variety of light, medium and dark options. You can starch fabrics if you wish. Starch will help maintain the shape of the block and reduce amount of squaring up after adding each round.

-To help gauge how much fabric to have on hand:
A 60” x 70” throw requires 7 yds minimum

Level: all levels

I hope to see you there!
